Day 1: Jaipur Arrival
Our tour representative warmly greets you upon your arrival at the Jaipur International Airport or Railway Station. You’ll be escorted to your hotel. Take a rest for the remaining time after a smooth check-in process. The Pink City, Jaipur, is famous for its handicrafts and textiles besides its grand palaces and forts. Travellers can spend the evening relaxing and preparing for the thrilling days that lie ahead, or they can opt to take a hurried walk around the neighbourhood markets near their hotel to have a sneak peek.
Day 2: Jaipur Sightseeing
Today, we will visit the essence of Jaipur’s textile legacy. Kickstart with a city tour of its renowned attractions, including the grand City Palace and the Hawa Mahal. Marvel at the rich architecture that often served as a canvas for local artisans. The day offers an immersive experience in the world of block printing. We are going to a workshop where you will witness the craftsmen carefully cutting wooden blocks, which they will then utilize to create beautiful patterns on fabric. From blending the natural colors to putting the block on fabric, the process is itself an art form. You may have the chance to give this ancient craft a try yourself as you learn about the different designs of blocks.
Day 3: Day Trip to Bagru
We’ll begin the day with a short trip to the village of Bagru, famous around the globe for its natural and traditional block printing process. Bagru is especially famous for using natural dye as well as the sophisticated Dabu printing. It’s fascinating to witness the whole process, from the initial preparation of fabric to dying it in large vats and sun-drying. You’ll see how artists create unique and beautiful resist designs by applying a special mud paste to the fabric before dyeing. Day 4: Jodhpur transfer via Sanganer
We’ll check out and begin our trip to Jodhpur after breakfast. We shall take a halt in Srinagar, a famous village near Jaipur, for its beautiful block printing.
Sanganer is famous for its bright color and intricate, fine-line floral designs, while Bagru is famous for its natural colors and Dabu prints. The work is special and equally beautiful. We shall proceed to the Blue City of Jodhpur after visiting Srinagar. Once you reach, check in at your hotel at leisure to rest for the remaining day.
Day 5: Jodhpur Sightseeing
Explore Jodhpur’s vibrant crafts today. Begin with a tour of the stunning Mehrangarh Fort, offering a panoramic view over the blue city. The city’s characteristic blue colouration, associated with indigo dyeing.
We’ll visit a local workshop to see the process of indigo, a popular and traditional natural color being employed to produce fabric. Jodhpur happens to be famous for its beautiful leather footwear, Mojris. Witness the making and embroidery of these ornate shoes, and visit artisan shops. The world-famous weaves and other textile arts we’ll explore the local markets.
Day 6: Barmer Transfer & Sightseeing
Take a drive to Barmer, taking us deeper into the desert. The hamlet is home to the traditional art and crafts of the desert. We’ll go on a tour to see the local art scene after arrival. Barmer is specifically famous for its intricate mirror work and other characteristic handicrafts of the desert. You shall explore the villages where the art of introducing small mirrors into colourful fabrics has been mastered by the women to produce spectacular patterns that catch the light.
Day 7: Udaipur Transfer
Today, we’ll travel to the City of Lakes, Udaipur. The trip will be interspersed with several textile pit stops along the way, where you can learn about regional differences in weaving and dyeing. The last lap of this tour is Shilpgram, a living ethnographic museum displaying the art and craft of rural Rajasthan and other states. You can engage with a variety of artisans, observing live demonstrations of pottery, weaving, metalworking and other crafts.
Day 8: Departure
You’ll be taken to the Udaipur Railway Station or Airport for your onward destination after a farewell breakfast at the hotel. Proceed from this embroidery textile and handicraft odyssey in Rajasthan with memories in your heart and deep respect for the hands that create magic out of a string.
