The Jhalana Leopard Safar Park is India’s first leopard reserve which is located in Jaipur city of Rajasthan state. Surrounded by the Aravalli Hill Ranges, in 2017 the park became a leopard reserve. Spread over an area of 20 square kilometers, the park has very rich flora and fauna life. Once the hunting ground for the royal people, the park is now the house of 30-35 leopards. Jhalana with a healthy population of leopards has now become the best destination to spot the big cat. 

The leopards are habitual of the presence of jeeps and humans, hence it becomes easier to spot these cats in the park. In the park, you get the opportunity to witness a three-storied hunting lodge of Royal families – Shikhar Audi. This is a perfect spot for animal spotting as well as enjoying the sunrise and sunset.

Flora in Jhalana Leopard Reserve – Jhalana is a dry forest with dependency on rainy seasons for the greenery. The forest has an abundance of Juliflora (Prosopis Juliflora) and Khejri (Prosopis cineraria). The valleys have local flora varieties such as Salar (Boswellia serrata), Kumta (Acacia senegal), Dhonk (Anogeissus pendula), and Dhak (Butea monosperma). The forest has the perfect environment for its wildlife.

Fauna in Jhalana Leopard Reserve – The majestic cat – Leopard is the prime animal in Jhalana wildlife. Leopards are at the top of the food chain and also the top predator of the park. The leopards in Jhalana safari park are easily visible in the daytime opposite to their natural shy nature. The park also has striped hyenas, Indian civets, desert cats, jungle cats, Sambhar deer, desert foxes, jackals, porcupines, spotted deer (chital), Blue Bull (Nilgai), jungle rats, monitor lizards, mongooses, a variety of snakes.

Best Time To Visit Jhalana Safari Park:

Jhalana Leopard Park was opened for tourists in December 2016. The park is open all month for safari tours. Even in the Monsoon season, the park remains open for tourists which makes it the perfect place to enjoy wildlife even in the rainy season.

Though the park can be enjoyed at any time of the year, it is advisable to visit the park in the winter season. This is because of the hot weather condition of Rajasthan state which becomes favorable for tourism during winter. Also, during this season, you get the best time to witness the blossoming beauty of the forest and friendly wildlife.
