Rajasthan, the land of kings holds a special place in my heart. I was travelling on a journey through this vibrant royal state was an experience filled with awe-inspiring moments, each one more enchanting than the last.
In this article, I’ve enlisted twelve reasons why I loved Rajasthan.
Majestic Forts and Palaces –
Rajasthan’s grand architectures include forts and palaces but stories carved in stone. Some famous tourist attractions of Rajasthan include Amber Fort, Jaisalmer Fort, Mehrangarh Fort, etc. with its expansive courtyards and intricate carvings, left me spellbound. Udaipur’s City Palace and Jaipur’s City Palace showcased the opulence of the Rajput rulers. There are many famous temples of Rajasthan like Birla Temple, Salasar Balaji, Khatu Shyamji, etc.
Rich Cultural Heritage –
Rajasthan’s culture is a vibrant tapestry woven with traditions, customs and festivals. The Pushkar Camel Fair shows the perfect blend of spirituality and commerce. The Jaipur Literature Festival is bustling with intellectual energy. Moreover, Diwali, Holi, Makar Sankranti, Teej Festival, Gangaur Festival, Camel Festival of Bikaner, Jaisalmer Desert Festival, Mewar Festival, and many more. Rajasthan’s fair and festivals are celebrated with great pomp, happiness and grandeur.
Exquisite Traditional Handicrafts –
Rajasthan’s famous artisans are magicians who create wonders with their hands. The Bandhani, tie and dye textiles, are available in vibrant and colorful art which is truly irresistible. Jaipur’s Blue Pottery showcases the intricated designs and striking blue color, which is truly a perfect souvenir. The miniature paintings from Kishangarh and Pichwai paintings from Nathdwara were a perfect testament to the region’s artistic finesse.
Delicious Cuisines –
Rajasthani cuisines are best to get on a delightful voyage for the taste buds. The traditional thali, a platter of various dishes was a feast in itself. Dal Bati Churma has a rich combination of flavors and textures was a revelation. If you are a non-vegetarian, you can try out the Laal Maas – a fiery mutton curry, that showcases the state’s love for robust flavors. Try out delicious sweets like Ghewar and Mawa Kachori which are the perfect end to every meal.
Vibrant Markets –
The chaotic marketplaces are a shopper’s paradise of every destination in Rajasthan. Be it the bustling bazaars of Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Udaipur were a riot of colors and sounds. Johari Bazaar in Jaipur with its dazzling array of jewelry was interesting. The clock tower market in Jodhpur, brimming with spices, textiles and handicrafts was a sensory overload. Each market place offers a unique treasure trove, making each shopping experience worth enjoying in Rajasthan.
Enchanting Music and Dance –
The folk music and dance of Rajasthan are the soul of its cultural heritage. The soul-soothing tunes of the Manganiyars and Langas are played on traditional instruments sound amazing. The ghoomar dance with its graceful twirls brings out a visual delight. The Kalbeliya dance performance, mimicking the movements of a snake is captivating. Every folk dance and music performance in a cultural show is a celebration of life and tradition in Rajasthan.
Stunning Desert Landscapes –
The thar desert and its stretch of golden sand dunes and vast expanses was a sight to behold. An exciting camel safari takes you through the desert of Jaisalmer and is an unforgettable experience. The Sam Sand Dunes and Khuri Sand Dunes near Jaisalmer offer a breathtaking sunset view over the horizon, creating a magical atmosphere. The annual Desert Festival in Jaisalmer is celebrated with camel races, cultural performances, exciting activities, etc. that bring the desert to life.
Warm Hospitality –
The heartwarming hospitality of the Rajasthani people is widely appreciated by all. Wherever I went, I was greeted well with smiles and warmth. The locals are proud of their heritage and very eagerly share stories and traditions. Staying in a heritage hotel in Rajasthan gives a glimpse of the royal treatment by the locals. The hospitality of Rajasthan made me feel like being in a home.
Spiritual Sanctity –
Rajasthan is a spiritually blessed state of India, housing a lot of Hindu, Jain, and Muslim pilgrimage sites. The Dilwara Jain Temples of Mount Abu showcase the intricate marble carvings, while the Brahma Temple in Pushkar is the only temple dedicated to Lord Braha. The Karni Mata Temple of Deshnok has residents for sacred rats that look truly fascinating. Besides the above, one can also seek blessings from the famous Khatu Shyamji Temple, Salasar Balaji Temple, etc. Each spiritual trip to Rajasthan is a journey into the spiritual heart.
Experience the Living History –
Walking by the historic jewels of Rajasthan makes me feel like stepping into the past. The historic cities with their narrow winding lanes and ancient structures exuded a timeless charm. The old city of Jodhpur is beautifully soaked in blue shade. The walled city of Jaipur has its historic gates and bustling streets is a living museum. Each place had a great story to tell, making history come alive.
Romantic Charisma –
Rajasthan is a land of romance and legends. The City of Lakes in Udaipur has many palaces and lakes offering an amazing romantic retreat. The boating experience on Lake Pichola with the setting sun casting a golden glow was truly magical. Visiting Mount Abu in hot summers brings great relief to couples and families who can enjoy their great time in the only hill station of Rajasthan. The ambiance in Rajasthan is perfect especially in the winter season for creating timeless memories.
Rich wildlife –
The rich diversity of the Rajasthan area is a haven for nature lovers. The Ranthambore National Park is home to majestic royal Bengal tigers, offering thrilling safari experiences. The Keoladeo Ghana National Park in Bharatpur is another UNESCO World Heritage Site which is a perfect bird-watcher’s paradise. The Sariska Tiger Reserve is home to diverse flora and fauna, offering a glimpse into the wilderness of Rajasthan. Every sanctuary showcased the state’s dedication to preserving the natural heritage.
Conclusion –
When it comes to wrapping up this article, I would like to share my views on planning the Rajasthan Tour Package. This is the best to get on a remarkable voyage with family or friends and experience the warm hospitality of Rajasthan.
